Short for Centre Forward. A centre forward (CF) is a forward whose primary responsibility is to attack and score goals. The centre of the attacking line is usually occupied by a CF player.

Long balls are frequently won by CF players, who then receive passes to score goals or help other attackers in finishing. CFs are known for their fast speed and fluid mobility. A ST player is positioned in front of a CF player in some formations, such as 4-4-1-1.
