GK

Short for Goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is a unique player in football, responsible for defending the goal and preventing the opposing team from scoring.

In football, the goalkeeper is the last line of defence. They are in charge of defending their team's goal and preventing the opposition from scoring. The goalkeeper is the only player allowed to touch the ball with their hands within the penalty area, which is a designated area in front of the goal. The goalkeeper is also the only player on the field who wears gloves.

Apart from defending the goal, the GK also plays an essential role in organizing the team's defense. They act as a commander, directing their teammates and helping to position them effectively on the field. The goalkeeper is also responsible for taking goal kicks, which are free kicks awarded to the defending team when the ball goes out of bounds behind the goal.
